Wondering

Like us all I sometimes wonder on what might have been if I had done things differently in my life. I currently have no lady in my life and I sorely miss that. I wrote this poem when I was in a pensive mood and puzzling on what it must feel like to be loved.

Wondering

I’m wandering in the recesses of my mind
wondering what on earth I’ll find.
Perhaps some joy and rapture too,
perhaps recollections I may rue.

Then again, there’s mystery there
a darkened secret there to bare,
or else the cupboard may be bare
of love, or hate or feelings rare.

How can I measure what I find
in the corners of my mind?
Visions sour, emotion true,
concern just me and never you.

Unless you care beyond belief
and seek with me mutual relief,
from life’s eternal push and shove,
sheltering in another’s love.

Who is he?
Some years ago the Salvation Army had a TV ad running that depicted an old man in a torn singlet looking into a dirty, cracked mirror. He was looking at himself as a young man, wasting his life on alcohol and drugs…

Solitude
I did something I haven’t done for a very long time. I spent the entire day in solitude. I didn’t answer my mobile, no radio, no TV. Not a single word to a soul…

Torment
Everyone on the planet has a dark side. Occasionally we have low points in our lives which threaten to overwhelm. Sometimes, in the darkest hour you gain great clarity, sometimes only despair.

Poetry is not always about beauty. We need, at times, to see darkness to appreciate light.

Listening
There comes a time in every man’s life where he is alone. Sometimes this is a time of peace and reflection. Other times it is anything but…
