I don’t know about you, but time is, to me is both the greatest asset and biggest problem we all have. So often there never seems to be enough to do everything life demands of us. On other occasions, time seems to slow as we drift along, no ambition or aim, to fritter away the most precious element of life.
I wrote this poem a while ago to provide a perspective to share. In my many years of consulting, counselling and coaching, I have always had a sense of urgency, an awareness of the need to use my time to the utmost. Yet, there must be time for solitude, musing or simply contemplation of the beauty that surrounds us on all sides.

Time
What is the nature of this beast
pursues us all as if to feast
on every single thing we’ve done
and make each separate doing one?
When life begins there’s time to spare
to grow and live as we desire,
experience of love to share
to even more we do aspire
to do something significant
our fellow man to inspire
to higher deeds, magnificent
time passes, sinking in the mire
our dreams and hopes, our aspiration
we have not time to do the deed
to crystallize our inspiration
and serve our fellow in his need.
It seems that time’s too easily spent
on little things of no import
substantive action’s our intent
others simply treat as sport.
When all is said and all is done
and we want to measure worth.
Our service to the other one’s
the rent we pay to stay on earth
They say that time all wounds to heal
and decide our final fate.
Time is enemy, our life to steal
there is no time, don’t wait, don’t wait
Make each moment one to savour
to your blessed heart’s content.
So you can taste of life’s flavour
and live life full, do not repent
your deeds or acts as you have done.
Time will take your actions read
as moments past, they blur to one
live life now, we are long dead.
