As those of you who have followed my poems know, I often write because of something in my life stirring me to comment.
Quite a number of years ago my life long friend married for a second time. Both he and his lady had grown children and I chided him how someone as plain as he [...]

I came from an extremely dysfunctional family. I know I am not alone in that regard. I have been blessed with five wonderful children and, as I grow older and the family gathers from time to time, I feel the warmth and companionship that had been missing in my own childhood. I am so grateful [...]

I have always found it ironic how we tend to judge others on our personal views of virtue. We rush to criticize and yet, so often, merely reinforce our own prejudice.
When I was at primary school we had a young African boy join our class. He was the object of much attention. Some boys [...]

I often look at why so many people get stuck in the past and lose their opportunity to live life to the full. Similarly many just dream of the future and don’t do anything. I have always believed we must have a balance and that is what this poem is about. I hope you enjoy.

Living
Have you ever wondered why so many
take their life so seriously?

Some time ago I was thinking about why this could be so. The following poem is a perspective you might wish to [...]

Now The Contest Really Begins
Now that Barack Obama is finally the official candidate and the battle arena becomes more clear, the time approaches for the American people to decide. I have written this poem as an outside perspective. I am not an American but, like all who love democracy, I am vitally interested in who [...]

Who was it that said, “Parting is such sweet sorrow.” I sometimes turn to the bard to express feelings that could otherwise be mixed and misunderstood. In a couple of week friends are moving overseas for a couple of years. The wife is a senior partner in a large, international accounting firm and is going [...]

I don’t know about you, but the biggest mystery in the universe for me, is love.
It is the most desired, least understood human condition there is. Following is a poem I wrote about it when I was in a somewhat pensive mood. I hope you enjoy.
Live well,
Ollie Lind
Love
What is Love? I hear them say
as if [...]

I was looking at the news the other night and saw (again) details of strife in the West Bank. We tend to become desensitized to violence, particularly religious violence. But it’s still real people who are suffering, and for what?
This poem is simply my way of looking at the subject. I am not a religious [...]
