Reflections on Life

“How a single short poem turned a pig-headed (I ain’t never gonna read that stuff!) yahoo into an avid lover of poetry.”

From the desk of

Dear friend,

I’m a webmaster. I build websites and blogs for people. I’m a regular guy. I don’t do pink. I don’t do frills and lace and I don’t do poetry. So when Ollie asked me to make his site, I was, “Well OK, but I ain’t reading this stuff.”

Of course, the usual mishaps happened and I had to get in and fix up the posts. And that’s when this particular poem clobbered me right between the eyes.

It really spoke to me. Opened my eyes to a new view on life: the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. So I started reading more poems. Not just Ollie’s, but some the classics as well. A whole new world opening up, full of profound experiences and insights.

I have to say Ollie is a master. He speaks about so many of life’s ups and downs in his prose. His straight-forward prose paints such vivid pictures and pure emotions. You’ve read some of his poems on the site. You know what I mean. If you got here from some place other than Ollie’s site, then click on this link to read some of his wonderful poetry. www.ollielind.com Make yourself a cuppa or a glass of your favourite beverage and settle in for a very enjoyable time. (Don’t forget to come back though.)

Reflections on Life poems booksNow its your chance to have a collection of 50 of his best loved poems,

  • each illustrated with photographs that really capture the essence of the poem,

I was astounded when he told me this was the price. To me paying $37 or $47 would have been quite reasonable for this collection. But Ollie said $7.00 so I suggest you get your copy now before I can talk more sense into him.

Message from Ollie Lind

Ollie Lind sittingFor some time I have been working on the release of my first poetry book. It’s called Reflections on Life.

I dedicated it to the man I believe was probably one of the wisest to have graced this planet – Socrates. When I first read The Dialogues I was struck by the clarity of his vision and his capacity to see both sides to any concept.

He was a man totally without pride or arrogance and the beauty of his logic and the accuracy of his observations are without parallel, in my humble opinion.

I set up the web site to share my observations and musings on life, not because I thought them unique or particularly profound. I believe each of us is unique in some manner and we have a responsibility to share our views and perspectives in order to broaden all our experiences and enrich our lives.

From a young age I asked many questions, often not getting an answer, or a wrong answer. I had the habit of looking at people and trying to imagine a past and future for them simply on the basis of what I saw.

I remember crying at age thirteen at a baseball game. The pitcher had twisted his knee and couldn’t walk well at all. I thought his future would consist of him having to limp for the rest of his life and I wept at the thought of the pain he was experiencing and would experience forever.

A foolish notion, I know, but it gave me an appreciation of the pain of others. When I turned to poetry it gave me an outlet to use strong, and to my mind, beautiful emotive language that would otherwise be ridiculed in general conversation.

My love of poetry has assisted me greatly as a writer and I find no greater joy than to share what I have experienced in my life with you in the form of poetry.

I make no claim to great wisdom or profundity, just a unique viewpoint that might entertain you, may challenge you to think and may even move you.

Please, share my life through poetry.

My web designer, John, has spent a great deal of time selecting pictures to mirror the mood of each poem. My profound thanks to him.

Simply follow the link to make your purchase. The cost is simply $7.

Then download your book and enjoy.

If you do not thoroughly enjoy the poetry simply send me an email and I will gladly refund your money.

Take a chance and share some beauty, some wistfulness, some sorrow, some joy and, perhaps, some beauty.

Live well,

Ollie Lind
