I came from an extremely dysfunctional family. I know I am not alone in that regard. I have been blessed with five wonderful children and, as I grow older and the family gathers from time to time, I feel the warmth and companionship that had been missing in my own childhood. I am so grateful to my children for opening my eyes to just how joyous a family can be.
Family
When family gathers from afar
it matters naught what you are.
Suffice to say that you belong
as one within the happy throng.
For family is a special tie
and all is truth, there is no lie.
But love and friendship does abound
your rightful place has been found.
For family finds you as you are
no pretence, no need for far
fetched stories of what you can
achieve above another man.
Acceptance, above all else does raise
a man above the need for praise.
Love you, brother, sister, mother
for family is above all other.
