There is no doubt in my mind that the biggest single scourge facing the planet is aids. There is considerable conjecture as to the origin of the disease and, in the early days such names as ‘gay plague’ were common. Disease does not discriminate,
so we must not incriminate
with prejudice to stand and say,
“He is struck down for he is gay.”
Bigots say, “It’s God’s defence
against lax morals, decadence.
Sodom is against his way,
transgressors must be made to pay.”

this dread disease? They are not gay.
A virus prevents, the doctors say
body defences holding at bay
deadly disease that can destroy
the dreams of woman, man and boy.
One this one point we can’t be vague
we are facing a dreaded plague.
Blaming gays has no point
unless you want to anoint
a victim, sacrificial lamb
slaughtered like a smoking ham.
What we need, co-operation
not blame nor recrimination.
Respect each other with precaution, not let passion throw all caution
to the winds, still, feelings lie
or else infect, and so to die.
